Understanding the makerspace trend from other sources will help determine the right makerspace for your library and community. While makerspaces are fun to have, it is important be aware of all the aspects that go into creating and sustaining a makerspace. Makerspaces allow for the student to create based on their interests and passions, and one needs to be aware of all the details so the space will be beneficial for all users.
The makerspace should add quality to the library, not just relevancy, and each library will come up with their own way to make (or not, as the case may be) their own makerspace.
Understanding the above points can help librarians determine if this program should be started in their community, and it is also important to reference examples of makerspaces. These can come in the form of blogs, articles, books, and other resources, anything that shows how to start the process and what has worked well for the library.
