Greetings! I'm John, and I'm thrilled to be a part of the dedicated team here at Middlebury Physical Therapy. With 16 years of experience in the field of physical therapy, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a passion for empowering individuals on their journey to optimal health.
A Journey of Healing Across the Nation
My career has taken me on a remarkable journey across the United States, from the vibrant communities of New Jersey to the picturesque landscapes of Oregon and Hawaii, and the sunny shores of Florida. Now, alongside my wife, I've found our final destination in the welcoming embrace of Vermont, where I am happy to serve as the Clinic Manager at Middlebury PT.
Comprehensive Expertise in Orthopedic Physical Therapy
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with a wide range of populations, addressing various musculoskeletal concerns. From general impairments to specialized areas like balance training, post-operative rehabilitation, neurological disorders, return to sport, and injury prevention, I've gained valuable insights that enrich my practice every day.
Passion for Pain Neuroscience Education
Over the past several years, my focus has shifted towards a profound interest in pain neuroscience education and the transformative healing of chronic pain. Understanding the intricacies of pain and its impact on overall well-being is crucial, and I am dedicated to empowering my patients with the knowledge and tools needed to overcome persistent pain and regain control over their lives.

I am a physical therapist who strives to create a collaborative and supportive care experience for all of my patients. I am a Vermont native who received my Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Movement Science and Doctor of Physical Therapy from The University of Vermont. I prioritize providing evidence-based care with an emphasis on a holistic treatment approach. I specialize in treatment of orthopedic conditions, sports injuries, and balance and gait impairments. I enjoy working collaboratively with individuals to achieve their goals and return to participating in the activities that bring them joy. When I am not in the clinic, you can find me enjoying the beautiful Vermont outdoors.
As a Pacific Northwest native, I received my Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from University of Puget Sound in the state of Washington and then received my Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Pacific University in Oregon. I continue to expand my education through Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation to assist patients with pelvic floor pain and dysfunction. I'm passionate about helping people return to living their lives to the fullest through recovery of any orthopedic injuries and chronic pain conditions as well. As a life long learner, my goal is to continue to grow in clinical expertise through detailed study of scientific research and continuing education. I recognize the challenges of making time for quality self-care and work to create productive sessions and thoughtful exercise programs that best fit into busy lives.

I'm a physical therapist with a passion for helping people overcome pain and dysfunction. I grew up in Addison County and earned my undergraduate Mathematics degree and doctorate of physical therapy (DPT) degree from the University of Vermont. I also earned my orthopedic specialist certification (OCS) in 2019.
Early on in my education I had a goal of learning enough to solve the problems that caused people physical pain and dysfunction. Unfortunately, because of the infinite complexity of the human body, I've had to rethink my goal of always solving every problem correctly (my math brain). The body is too complex to have a right answer. My adjusted goal is to never stop learning, to always stay current with the most recent evidence based research and treatments, and to solve each problem optimally. I’m grateful for the tool-set that physical therapy allows my practice and honored to be a practitioner who works with other medical professionals that place patients at the epicenter of their medical care. Every patient is unique and requires a unique approach to their treatment.
It is always my focus to help patients manage pain, maximize function, and reach each individual goal while empowering them with the tools to self-manage their condition and prevent future recurrence. As a clinician I practice extensively in orthopedics, sports medicine, balance and functional retraining, vestibular rehab, persistent pain, and concussion rehab.
By appreciating the power and importance of evidence based medicine and active listening, I strive to consistently provide compassionate and comprehensive care to each and every patient. My goal is to build long-term, lasting relationships with my patients, and to treat every patient as if they are part of my family.
