DFD

One so called secret of modern composite boat building is DFD. Drill fill drill.

DFD keeps water from creeping into wood around metal nuts, bolts and screws.

DFD is straight forward. Drill a hole twice the size of your fastener. Apply two part marine epoxy to the the surface you just drilled.

Fill with a paste of marine epoxy and wood flour.

Allow to cure.

Drill with the proper size bit. Install the fastener.

There you go. With that we have ended 99% of regular maintenance wood boats require.

With DFD your drift boat is one big step closer to decades of use with near zero maintenance.

By the way their are no wood screws, nuts or bolts used in your drift boat.

The only fasteners will be the the nuts and bolts used to secure the anchor system, bow eye bolt, and oar lock sockets.
