Local Field Statistics in Particulate Composites

Localized stress state in a microstructure can be estimated semi-analytically. Figure on the left shows histogram from FEM & estimated Gaussian distribution of local stress for a particulate composites subjected to uniaxial loading. Damage, failure & prediction of localized thermal and residual stress can be estimated very quickly. More information can be found here.

Viscoelastic Behaviour of Polymer Composites

Effective transversely isotropic behaviour of a viscoelastic composite can be evaluated swiftly provided a linear thermoelastic homogenization problem can be solved. The picture on the right shows the directional dependent behaviour of modulus relaxing as a function of time. Interested click here. For comparison with other methods click here !

Instability in Non-linear Composites

Instability can be harnessed to mitigate wave propagation through solids. The image on the left shows different instability  patterns seen by controlling the microstructure geometry. More details can be found here.

Residual Stress in Optical Glass Lens

Residual stress in glass lens induces adverse effects like chromatic aberration due to multiple focal length. Image on the right shows the residual stress map quantified in terms of optical birefringence. Digital twin of the process enables us live visualization of stress formation during the process. More utility on digitalization of lens molding process can be found here.

Gas flow in Precision Glass Molding Machine

Gas flow in precision glass molding process cause non-equilibrium cooling of lens, thereby inducing residual stress . Digital twin of the machine gives a live understanding of the cooling mechanism. Figure on the left shows the mode of heat transfer as seen from simulations. Residual stress formed on a glass disc after the cooling process is also shown. More details on this can be accessed here.
