LAND OR PEOPLE: ADRESSING VIOLATIONS OF LEBANESE SOVEREIGNTY AND TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY
Violations of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Lebanese Republic have been a major issue for many years due to regional conflicts and tensions along its borders. Lebanon’s location in the Middle East has made it vulnerable to foreign military operations, political interference, and armed conflict involving neighboring countries and non-state armed groups.
One of the main sources of tension is the conflict between State of Israel and Hezbollah, particularly in southern Lebanon. Airstrikes, rocket attacks, border clashes, and violations of Lebanese airspace have repeatedly raised concerns about Lebanon’s sovereignty. The 2006 Lebanon War and more recent border escalations caused significant destruction, civilian casualties, and displacement.
The United Nations has addressed the issue through resolutions such as United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which aimed to establish a ceasefire and strengthen stability in southern Lebanon
