Dear Colleague,
We hope you will consider sharing an exciting opportunity for professional development, including SCHECHs, by joining us for the Michigan Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges (MichMATYC) annual meeting at Southwestern Michigan College!
This conference, scheduled for October 10th and 11th, 2025, will provide you with an opportunity to interact with your fellow two year college math instructors from across the state of Michigan. It will include an optional Friday workshop discussing college math reform efforts that paired with the introduction of Michigan ReConnect. On Saturday, we will have a variety of engaging speakers, beginning with a warm welcome by our own SMC Alum and Interim President, Brent Brewer . Keynote speakers will include Dr. Keith Nabb from Piedmont Virginia Community College, and Dr. Brian Muholland from the University of Notre Dame.
Equally important, we hope to learn from you! Participants are invited to submit their own presentations using our Call for Presenters form. This year's conference theme is “The Science of Mathematics”, and topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Recent Michigan math reform efforts tied to Michigan ReConnect
AI and its implications in the math classroom
Learning loss after COVID - 5 years out
Connections between math and science classrooms (content, experiences, collaborations, etc.)
Successful transition from high school mathematics coursework to 2-year institutions
Successful math course transfer between 2- and 4-year institutions in Michigan

As college math educators, we know a students' best experience begins with your hard work. Join us as we celebrate mathematics education across the state of Michigan, at all levels and in many areas of interest.
