The Michigan Lion Dance Team is a student led nonprofit united by a shared love for performance, culture, and community. We host our events in the greater Detroit area, at festivals, libraries, schools, and more.
Whether you’ve seen us in action before or this is your first time hearing about lion dance, we’d love to have you join us! No experience is needed! All you need is energy, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. From dancing and drumming to helping plan events, there’s a place for everyone on our team.

When and Where Do We Practice?
Regular practices take place every Saturday afternoon at Ward Church, located at 40000 Six Mile Rd, Northville, MI 48168.
Flexible Training Commitment
Whether you're looking to be a full team member or are interested in taking on a leadership role, our training commitment can be tailored to your involvement level.
Performance Schedule
Performances typically take place on weekends, but every event is optional and based on your availability. We perform at cultural festivals, community events, and public celebrations throughout the year.

Our team is made up of a diverse group of passionate students from all around the area. We pride ourselves on a welcoming atmosphere and a mix of experience levels, from beginners to advanced performers.

Learn the art of lion dance and drumming, no experience required
Build leadership skills through hands-on roles in event planning, outreach, and teamwork

Train with experienced mentors who will guide your growth as both a performer and a leader
Earn volunteer hours and grow your resume with nonprofit experience
We are certified for the President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA), a national recognition honoring individuals and organizations for their outstanding commitment to volunteer service and civic engagement!
