According to the U.S department of Labor quiz, I value relationships, work settings, and independence the most. I like to enjoy my work so I am able to have fun and like what I am doing. That being said, I need to form relationships in the workplace to feel comfortable. I also like to display my knowledge and not be held back by others. That is why my independence is so high. I value a calming environment. If I am at home, school, or work I need my space to be calm and collected. These are the three things I value the most. I do not want my personal identity to be completely unrecognizable in my professional identity.
Academics & My Internship
I think my professional identity follows what I want to do in life well. I like being able to voice my opinions and give feedback. I do not like to be stuck in a box with strict guidelines. I enjoy collaboration just as long as I will receive credit where it is due. My internship allows me to work independently and hit the goals I need to. This has allowed my self discipline to grow. I ultimately want to be a lawyer. Being a lawyer require lost of self discipline and solo work. I am strengthening these two aspects of my professional identity at my internship currently.
My academics connects to my internship directly. There are many discussions of the job market in school. In my marketing class we often talk about how different salaries are utilized in different states. We also discuss how different traits are being looked for by employers. These are all some concepts that I learn about everyday my internship. I am able to use these examples and tie them into my schoolwork.
