Concept Art - Places Tell Stories
We occupy places; physical, social, metaphysical, and many more. We affect those places and those places can affect us. The following works are illustrative concept art meant to invoke these places the the emotions that accompany them.
Amethyst Heart In Tartarus
With miles of stone overhead, the explorer was far deeper than any should venture, yet, he found himself here, at the bottom of the world.
Sky Island
My younger brother (13 at the time, myself 21) drew a sky dwelling creature and asked if I could draw my own version of it. With creative liberties for a fun exercise, I created my own interpretation of the drawing. With certain changes with my brother's input ("blue fire" becoming water), we created something together.
A Giant's Celestial Sword
A Celestial Blade once wielded by giants. It sits amidst the ancient grove, awaiting its champion's return so that it may be used in battle once more.
From Top to Bottom of The World
Inspired by the video game Minecraft.
Sometimes in the game, landscape generation can result in exceptionally deep caves having an opening to the surface world where the tiniest amount of sunlight can shine through. The piece is vertical to accentuate the depths one travels from abandonned mineshafts, underground waterfalls, coming across dazzling amethyst geodes, and finally, at the bottom of the world, an explorer may happen across something otherworldly.
Shatterstar Tree
Innocence once dwelt here...
Now only echoes remain.
