In my sophomore year in college I created the Murph club. It started as a group of guys doing the "Murph" workout every Friday. For those of you that don't know, the Murph workout is to run 1 mile, do 100 pull-ups, do 200 push-ups, do 300 squats, and to run another mile. After a few weeks of doing this workout consistently with friends, I started track season so I could no longer participate in the workouts. So I decided to make it a club where I could coach my friends. I created the club so I could have a group besides the track team where I felt comfortable to be myself and I felt safe. It has since turned into a safe haven for everyone, but many of its members end up being former athletes who felt like they no longer had a place or purpose without a team. The Murph club became a community of people that wants the best for everyone in the club and everyone pushes each other to be the best versions of themselves that they can be. Although Physical Health is important and the reason I created the club, it is not the most important. This club is highly focused on the importance of prioritizing mental health. Working out has many benefits to the mind and it is my goal and the clubs goal to help people feel like they have a place to be themselves and a place where they can be helped when they need it. It is also an opportunity for some people to get in shape and other to learn how to coach and personal train. The club encourages success and opportunities for the members and it has become a part of the way I coach. I add this section as a way to express my gratitude for the club and because it was the biggest thing that I created that succeeded. This was a very important part of my life so if you have any questions about it please ask.
