Soul Retrieval: Plural Selves

This series explores identity fragmentation present in Haitian Vodou and various African cosmologies.

The hearts represent my plural selves. Pictured above is Tibonanj, Namn, & Lwa Rasin.

Inspired by the research carried forth by Kyrah Malika Daniels' "Voudou harmonizes the head-pot, or Haiti's multi-soul complex", each piece reflects how the physical body and head serves as primordial sacred vessels in Vodu. We are 'filled' with a collective of many soul-selves (Daniels, 2).
