For this project, I was tasked with finding out how social media has affected me and others over time and how it affects the people of today's world.
From taking this, "Am I ADDICTED to social media?" QUIZ I found out that I was fairly reliant with being on social media in today's world.
You are fairly reliant on social media, but there are far worse culprits! Still, it is good to be reminded that UK adults spend an average of 8 hrs 41 mins on screens every day, and 4 hours of that on smartphone apps alone (social media). That is about a third of each day checking apps. Do you need to rethink your social media habits and the amount of time you spend scrolling?
From this information, I think I can try and work on how I manage my time on social media just a little bit more. Sometimes when I have been working on assignments for a little while, I would take a break, but I will struggle with getting out of the break. One thing I see that I can do to fix it is trying to lay out more rules to force myself to get back to work.
One of the interesting data charts that I had seen from this source was what kind of news media people tend to use the most. I can relate to some of this data in this chart because I find it relevant to what kind of news medias, I look at the most today.
From what I had seen, I believe that social media in a pack comes with positives and negatives, with ways of getting news. Most social media are free for anyone to access at any time, and can let anyone post what they want. But when we need to find the right news, it can be hard to find out if it can be true and that we can trust it. But the positives that its people can get news even if far away, and can be updated on any important topic at any time. Over all I believe it's good that we can have this kind of access, but we should always be aware of what we look at.
I had learned that social media does play a major part in everyone's lives, and can make us change the way we may believe topics. I also learned ways to help become less attracted to social media, so I can be less distracted.
