Unfortunately I helped create the libertarian political phenomenon known as Eric Brakey four years ago. Maine’s champion of pot is now running against Angus King for the U.S. Senate. Brakey is a two term State Senator.
In 2011 I left a Florida pro life ministry to serve as Executive Director of Ron Paul’s Republican first-in-the-nation primary effort in Iowa. For three months I lent my Christian political reputation to the contrarian champion of peace and sound money. He wanted to be President of the United States.
I advised higher ups in the campaign about Maine. This advice indirectly led to Ron Paul’s victory at the Maine Republican Convention that spring. Brakey was a leader in the Maine effort. He parlayed that success into a State Senate seat. Now he wants to represent Maine in the United States Senate.
He will not defeat the King. That is certain.
If he defeats Max Linn in the primary, however, he will further establish his hold on power within the Maine GOP. Unfortunately this week's news about Linn pretty much guarantees Brakey's success in June.
This week brought a major shake up in the Linn campaign's leadership. Additionally Linn is attempting to force Brakey to debate him. He is promising a $25,000 donation to the NRA if Brakey refuses the debate challenge. I don't get the strategy here.
Brakey is the guy who delivered concealed carry. Maybe Linn is trying to challenge Brakey's gun rights creds. I don't know. And I don't care enough to want to know.
Brakey is going to win the primary unless Christian Republican primary voters see through Brakey's pro life gambit. He gets their vote because he says he's pro life. Maybe he votes pro life. I guarantee you he won't fight to end abortion, nor will he risk an ounce of political capital to stop abortion.
Additionally, he is pro sodomy. He sponsored a bill THIS YEAR that would deny parents the opportunity to secure life saving counseling for a vulnerable child propagandized by their government run school into believing they are "gender fluid."
Eric Brakey is no friend to the morality of Jesus Christ.
