Rather than framing my scholarly interests as a single, linear program of research, I think of them as a garden; a collection of ideas and questions that I am cultivating over time. Each area of inquiry grows at its own pace, shaped by the seasons of my professional and personal development. Some topics receive more attention in a given moment, while others rest and mature in the background, but all are connected by my broader commitment to education, equity, and innovation in public health, nursing, and beyond.
At this point in my career, I do not have one dominant research focus. Instead, my work spans several interconnected areas, including student engagement and learning design (through frameworks such as Universal Design for Learning and Differentiated Instruction), the responsible integration of artificial intelligence in nursing and higher education, the intersection of public health and social media (such as the role of online discourse and “COVID memes” in shaping public understanding), and the relationship between digital resources and health equity, particularly for underserved populations managing chronic conditions.
Each of these topics represents a plot within my garden; diverse, evolving, and interdependent. Together, they reflect my curiosity about how people learn, communicate, and seek well-being in increasingly digital and complex environments. Over time, this garden may change shape, but my goal remains the same: to nurture inquiry that is meaningful, responsive, and grounded in the real-world contexts where learning and care intersect.
In this section of my portfolio, I share the research I have completed and continue to cultivate, addressing these broad topics. For a complete list of scholarship, please review my CV.
