Miami International Airport (MIA) is the closest airport to campus, which serves all major airlines.
Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is located 45 miles north of the campus. Please contact us if you need assistance in coordinating transportation to and from the airport for large groups
Miami-Dade’s public transportation system connects the University to both MIA and FLL airports. The Miami-Dade MetroRail system provides a direct route from MIA to a station located at the University of Miami’s campus. Additionally, riders can connect to the city’s TriRail system to travel via rail from campus to FLL. The MetroRail and Metrobus services also provide local routes throughout Miami-Dade County, including many stops near the University campus.
The MetroRail has a stop, University Station, which connects you to the main campus. Just outside of the station, there is a bus stop where a “HurryCanes Shuttle” comes every 5-8 minutes. This route, Stanford Express, will take you just next to Merrick Building, where the conference will be held. For live tracking of the bus, consult the following site: https://www.umshuttles.com/map. Make sure to click the Stanford Express box on the “Routes” tab in order to see the shuttle’s location. There are typically two buses that run the route, but sometimes only one is represented in the map. So if the bus seems like it is far away, chances are the second bus is close, although this is not always the case. You may also walk if you prefer. The walk is roughly 10-15 minutes maximum. Below is a screenshot of the Stanford Express route and a photo of the shuttle stop. There is a yellow star to represent the approximate location of Merrick Hall.
As you see above, the bus will drop you off at the circle on Stanford Drive. The yellow circles on the map represent two possible entrances to Merrick Building.
Miller Center Auditorium, where the conference will take place, is on the ground floor of Merrick Building. There is no food or drink allowed in the auditorium. Breakfast, coffee, and snacks will be available on the second floor of Merrick in the conference room, Merrick 210.01.
