Our Mission

TO STRENGTHEN YOUTH AND FAMILIES AND TO REDUCE THE INCIDENCE OF DELINQUENCY, ABUSE AND NEGLECT THROUGH COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Why Youth assistance

Youth Assistance does not cost, it pays.  We all want our tax dollars spent effective and wisely. A three year longitudinal study evaluating the effectiveness and impact of youth assistance casework services and community based programs found that 92% of participating families did not have additional court contact during that three year period.  Prevention works.

With state juvenile facilities costing up to $313,500 on average, Youth Assistance is the logical choice. At just $2.50 per day, Youth Assistance Casework Services are the most economical way to protect our youth's future. The average service period is 120 days, for a total of $300 in taxpayer dollars. Direct costs to the families for Youth Assistance services is minimal and may be waived in case of economic hardship

what we do

Madison Heights Youth Assistance is a volunteer organization serving the Lamphere and Madison School District area. By working cooperatively with the Oakland County Circuit Court-Family Division, the schools, police, parents, youth, and community resources, MHYA is able to help families and young people.

Our primary goal is to prevent delinquency, abuse and neglect by using a 2 pronged approach - casework and community organizing. By utilizing our citizen volunteers and community resources, we can provide programs to the general community that enhance family life and provide positive alternatives for youth.
