About

The Milford High School Vocal Music program consists of three main choirs: Concert Choir, Choraleers, and Center Stage. It began in the 1960s under the creative and musical direction of Mr. James Cutty. Cutty created Vocal Ensemble which is now known as Center Stage. As the vocal music program grew in popularity, an all-female advanced ensemble was formed, known as Choraleers. The program gained notoriety while performing all over the United States, Canada and Europe. Both groups continue to perform, grow and entertain audiences around the Huron Valley area, throughout Michigan and the United States.

The program expanded again in 2006 under Maryann Lambrecht with the resurgence of Concert Choir and the addition of Men's Ensemble. The Vocal Music program produces a variety of shows every year, culminating with the POPS concert featuring Center Stage and Choraleers. Each year concludes with a showcase of each varsity group in May/June called Soiree and Caberet.

With Ms. Lambrecht's retirement at the end of the 2020/21 school year, the Milford High School Vocal Music program welcomes Miss Brittany Miller as the new vocal music director! With her 11 years of teaching music in addition to her experience directing Musical Theatre performances, she will continue to expand on the wonderful vocal music traditions of Milford High School.

Director Brittany Miller

Miss Miller is extremely passionate about vocal music and creating a community where students feel safe, challenged, and excited.

Miss Miller received her bachelor’s degree in music education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago and her master’s degree in Kinesiology from Wayne State University. In her previous 11 years teaching, she has taught elementary, middle, and high school music. She has also directed musicals both at the middle and high school levels and acted as the music director for the Mt. Zion Theatre company. She loves Musical Theatre and would love to talk your ear off, if you ever need or have recommendations for musicals.

During her after school hours you can find her with her three fur babies, Cooper, Daisy and Penny. They love hiking together in the state park by her house, playing fetch, and working on agility training!

Willy Wonka said, “We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams.” Miss Miller believes that is true for this wonderful group of young people, and she feels privileged to work with them!
