SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Hi, Iβm Mahathee, and I come from the beautiful village of Kaptai in the Chittagong Hill Treaks of Bangladesh. Despite growing up in a place with limited access to city life, my parents always encouraged my curiosity and passion for learning. They never let me feel limited by my surroundings, inspiring me to dream big. Thanks to their support, I became the first earth science graduate from my village. Now, with a strong foundation and determination, Iβm eager to apply my knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on my community and the world.
College LIFE
I completed my undergraduate studies in Geology at the University of Dhaka, where I built a strong foundation in geoscience through both classroom learning and intensive fieldwork. During my time there, I participated in several applied research projects, including groundwater modeling for coastal water security and geophysical surveys for landslide risk assessment. I contributed to a UNICEF-supported groundwater monitoring project in Coxβs Bazar and worked with resistivity and seismic methods on a government-funded landslide study in Bandarban. These experiences shaped my interest in hydrogeology and geophysics, while teaching me the value of collaboration, field precision, and applying science to solve real-world problems.
Cultural Ceremony, 2024
Throughout my studies, I developed a deep interest in groundwater flow, ecohydrology, and environmental geophysics, driven by a passion for understanding how subsurface processes shape ecosystems and water security. Currently, my research focuses on modeling how shallow groundwater sustains vegetation regeneration in the Medicine Bow Mountains, using variably saturated flow simulations to link groundwater availability with post-disturbance forest recovery. In previous projects, including my work in Coxβs Bazar, I conducted groundwater monitoring and MODFLOW-based flow modeling to assess saltwater intrusion risks, and I contributed to several geophysical investigations involving ERT, MASW, and SPT to characterize subsurface conditions.
Iβm proficient with a range of scientific and geospatial tools, including ModelMuse (MODFLOW), Leapfrog, ParFlow, ArcGIS, ENVI, and ERDAS IMAGINE, which enable me to build hydrogeological models and analyze complex datasets. I also have experience using Python, R, and MATLAB for data processing, visualization, and analysis. Iβm always eager to learn new tools and stay updated with advances in hydrology, geophysics, and environmental modeling.
As I continue my graduate research, Iβm excited about exploring new ideas, collaborating across disciplines, and contributing to a better understanding of groundwaterβecosystem interactions in a changing climate.
TRAVEL AND PHOTOGRAPHY
Since childhood, Iβve been passionate about exploring new places and connecting with people from different cultures. My dream is to explore every country in the world and see all the unseen wonders it has to offer, starting with the beauty of my homeland, Bangladesh. Iβve walked the golden beaches of Coxβs Bazar, explored the peaceful islands of Saint Martinβs, hiked the lush hills of Bandarban, and ventured into the wild forests of the Sundarbans. These experiences have deepened my love for nature and adventure.
Beyond Bangladesh, my travels have taken me across the United States, where I visited the breathtaking summit of Pikes Peak, explored the striking red rock formations of the Garden of the Gods, and spent time in the serene landscapes of a Rocky Mountain camp. I also traveled to Telluride, drove along the picturesque Last Dollar Road, and hiked to the stunning Ice Lakeβeach destination offering its own unforgettable beauty. Istanbul added another incredible chapter to my journey. During my 3-day visit, I explored its rich blend of cultures, iconic architecture, and lively streets β a city where history and modern life coexist beautifully.

Beautiful Bangladesh
Iβm eager to take on new challenges like scuba diving, skydiving, bungee jumping, and paragliding. These adventures are a part of my quest to embrace the worldβs wonders. Through my travels, I capture and share these moments, offering a glimpse into the beauty and diversity of our planet. Life is about the adventures you take and the memories you make. Till we meet again!
