Welcome to the website of the conference ‘Prevention, Therapy & Diagnostics - New Research Perspectives on Language Deprivation Syndrome’
The conference will take place from 28 to 29 March at the RWTH in Aachen, Germany.
The conference is organized by the German Federal Association for Mental Health and Deafness (mhDeaf) and the Competence Centre for Sign Language and Gesture (SignGes) at RWTH Aachen University.

Conference Day 1
Presentations
On the first day of the event, experts from both home and abroad will give specialist talks and present new research results on preventing, diagnosing, and treating language deprivation syndrome.
In addition, an introduction to the topic of language deprivation will be given, and case studies from practice will be presented.
The first day's lectures will be in German, American, and British Sign Language and German and English spoken language. They will be translated into German and German sign language.
Conference Day 2
Workshops
On the second day of the conference, three parallel workshops will be held on the main topics of the conference, namely prevention and counselling, therapy and diagnostics.
Two experts will lead each workshop, with the objective of generating concrete results, which will be presented in plenary at the end of the day.
Two of the three workshops will be conducted in German Sign Language, and another will provide interpretation between German Sign Language and German spoken language.
The publication of conference proceedings, which will comprise a collection of research papers presented at the event and the results of the workshops, is scheduled to occur in due course.

With the SuperC, the RWTH Aachen University has created a lively conference and meeting center in the city's heart and university.
The SuperC is characterized by its special appearance and owes its name to its shape, which includes a protruding roof and a continuation of the "C" in the basement.
