The City of Aachen

Aachen is a vibrant city in the heart of Europe. World-famous attractions include the Aachen Cathedral (the first UNESCO World Heritage Site), the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen, the RWTH Aachen University (a university of excellence in research and teaching), the University Hospital Aachen, the CHIO (World Equestrian Festival), the Aachen Christmas Market and the Öcher Printen. This list is only exemplary and proves that Aachen is always worth a visit.

Aachen was once a city of thermal springs, and today it is a city of scientific, cultural, and political ideas, as well as successful manufacturing and service companies.

Integrated into the Aachen City Region and the Euregio Maas-Rhine, Germany's westernmost city is located in a place where the European idea is a tangible experience for its inhabitants. Living, working and living "across borders" in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium promotes diversity, flexibility and innovation.

This is reflected in the open attitude of the people of Aachen as well as in the city's infrastructure, which makes it a highly attractive location for businesses. While the old town is reminiscent of the historic times of Charlemagne, the RWTH Aachen campus creates space for further future-oriented synergies between research and business in the high-tech region of Aachen. For example, Aachen is a model region for e-mobility and a model region for the G5 mobile standard.

The innovative character of the city of Aachen is expressed and driven by the renowned companies and start-ups, universities and institutes located here, which are networked and collaborate in a variety of ways. This is an ideal environment for scientific and economic congresses and conferences with the potential for networking.

As Aachen is a popular tourist destination, business travelers also benefit from the wide range of hotels in all comfort classes and a flourishing landscape of bars, cafés and restaurants. Other pluses include the city's excellent access to highways, rail and air transportation, and the city's public transportation system. Many hotels are within walking distance of the Eurogress, please contact us for more information.

SuperC of the RWTH Aachen

The design of the so-called study-functional center of RWTH Aachen University is the result of a competition launched by the university's rector in 2000. The brief was to design a building that would bundle all services for students in a central location and at the same time provide a joint forum for the university, the city of Aachen and the business community.

To see and Do

Aachen has a wonderful, traffic-calmed old town with many historic buildings. Thanks to the hot springs, Charlemagne chose this city as his official residence.

We have a historic city center, many parks and great vantage points that offer a wonderful view over Aachen. As the city lies in a basin, you can look out over the whole city from viewpoints such as the tower at the Dreiländereck, the Lousberg or the Haarener Kreuz.

Aachen is located on the border with Belgium and the Netherlands. This makes it a perfect starting point for day trips to these countries or the High Fens National Park in the border region between Germany and Belgium. A must for nature lovers, landscape and wildlife photographers alike.

Thanks to one of the best technical universities in Germany, the RWTH, many students live in the city. This is reflected in the leisure activities on offer. For a city with just under 330,000 inhabitants, there are plenty of opportunities for party-loving visitors.

However, Aachen receives the most visitors towards the end of the year, when the Aachen Christmas market opens its doors. Always one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany, every visitor should have seen it at least once during winter.
