Subspecialty: Hospitalist Medicine
Dr. McManus grew up in Durham, NC and completed her undergraduate degree at Duke University. She then crossed the street and attended University of North Carolina (UNC) for medical school. She spent one year at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public health completing an MPH, with her thesis focused on quality improvement. Shilpa was a pediatric resident at MGHfC, where her main interests were Endocrinology and Hospitalist medicine, ultimately deciding to pursue a career in the latter. After her training she joined the medical staff at Newton Wellesley Hospital as a pediatric hospitalist where she does inpatient pediatrics, newborn medicine, and teaches residents, medical students, and PA students. She currently serves as the Director of Pediatric Quality and Improvement and Pediatric Peer Review at NWH. Professionally, she is interested in simulation and quality improvement. At home, she enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 children, and 2 cats and during March Madness they root for Duke.
