Dr. Kaplan is a local guy from Brookline, MA. He received his undergraduate degree from Brown University and taught science at a preparatory school in Connecticut for one year before enrolling at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.  He completed both his pediatric residency (2008) and pediatric gastroenterology fellowship (2011) at MGHfC and has been on staff here since finishing training. He splits his professional time between clinical work, teaching and clinical and translational research in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. At MGHfC he serves as the Clinical Director of the Pediatric IBD Program and Director of IBD Clinical Trials. He sits on the Chapter Medical Advisory Committee of the New England chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America and, each summer, he volunteers as a camp physician at a summer camp for children with IBD. He lives in Westwood, MA with his wife, a pediatric intensivist, and 4 young sons.
