Subspecialty: Neonatology
Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, IL, Dr. Herzberg completed her undergraduate degree in Human Science and her MD from Georgetown University (Hoya Saxa!). Between the two, she took a gap year where she completed a Fulbright Fellowship in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She was a pediatric resident and chief resident at MGfC and subsequently pursued neonatology training in the Harvard Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program where she also served as chief fellow. After completing fellowship in July 2020, Emily joined the faculty in the NICU at MGH. She is thrilled to be back home. Her academic interests include clinical research in neonatal neurology, including the diagnosis of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy and applications of electroencephalogram (EEG). She also serves as the Neonatal Director for the Fetal Care Program, helping to guide families through complex pregnancies with congenital anomalies or genetic disorders. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her husband and two Goldendoodles, Jackson and McKinley.
