Dr. Cummings grew up in Sandy Hook CT, attending Boston College for his undergraduate degree and University of Connecticut for Medical school. He returned to Boston for residency at MGH in pediatrics, fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine, and a fellowship in medical ethics at Harvard. Following his training, he joined the faculty of critical care and has been involved in various administrative and teaching roles, including a past role as Associate Chief Quality Officer at MGH. He is the chair of the pediatric bioethics committee and executive director for the clinical process improvement leadership team (CPIP) at MassGeneral Brigham. Brian currently serves as the Vice Chair for Department of Pediatrics and the Medical Director for MGHfC. His academic interests are diverse and focus on quality, ethics, and resident and faculty education.
