This year, Marlins Go Green and Facilities Management are proud to host the a virtual Earth Week Celebration honoring the 50th annual celebration of Earth Day. In doing so, we will also recognize the the advancements that our university has made towards a sustainable future with our theme:
Back and Into the Future: The Sustainable Progression of VWU.
Even before Marlins Go Green, the students of Virginia Wesleyan University have had immense care for the environment. 50 years ago, these Marlins gathered in unison to support the first-ever Earth Day. The slideshow on the right contains a photo of this gathering, along with pictures and related articles from the 1992 Beech Wood Forest protests on campus. Environmental advocacy has been a monumental force on campus from the beginning.
Below are links to several different Earth Day celebrations and conferences that will be held virtually. The vast majority are open for public viewing.
