Ezekiel Herrera-Bevan is a 3rd year Earth and Environmental Science major with a minor in Mathematics. Having grown up in Northern San Diego County, Zeke gained an immense appreciation for the incredible and serene environments that surrounded him, and eventually decided to capture that essence in his photography. Over the past several years, Ezekiel has spent much of his time traveling across the country to visit our National Parks, which has evolved his understanding of the ongoing environmental issues from a first-hand perspective. Zeke's studies now focus on the human influence on wildlife and different natural systems, evident in his research regarding the anthropogenic effects of artificial lighting on bat foraging activity. This study even included a native endangered species- the Tricolored bat. As the Secretary of Marlins Go Green, he hopes to spread awareness of ongoing environmental issues, while also inspiring the student body with simple potential solutions to help them do their part.
Skyler Lattuca is a 3rd year Earth and Environmental Science major, as well as one of the pioneers of the Sustainability Management program on campus. Originally from Long Island, New York; Lattuca first began exploring his environmental awareness through landscape architecture and design, trying to imitate the beauty of a natural landscape in a suburban to urban environment. From there, his practices allowed him to work with a local business to design an Environmental Stewardship Plan that could combat their economic, environmental, and social shortcomings. Through the Sustainability Management program at Virginia Wesleyan University, Skyler has expanded his knowledge on business management and economic sustainability, and aims to use this education to align the economic goals of businesses with the environmental goals of the public and ultimately create a truly sustainable living-learning community.
