Final Program Reflection
This trip allowed me to see the world ina. new way. It gave me the tools needed to live in a new sustainable way that can help the environment. In Jamie's class, we talked about composting and how to do it. This gave me the motivation to learn how to start composting.
Adaptivibility is something I also learn as for example: I had to learn how to get around in Europe especially in London. The underground was stressful at first but once U figured it out, I would eventually adapt and learn my way to and from where I needed to go.
Problem Solving. For our final project, we had to fix a problem and in our project it allowed me to learn how to problem solve better especially qith a group of people as I prefer to do stuff on my own.
Communication was also big for me. This trip allowed me to learn how to communicate ideas amongst my group and discuss amongst each other to eventually go towards what would be our final presentation.
Organizing. I personally am not very good at keeping oprganized but this trip made me learn how to be a bit more organized with my stuff. Especially when we had to leave London Generator, I had to be organzied and quick to get out of there and because I did that, it led me to be more efficient with my packing during the trip overall.
DESIGN THINKING FINAL CLASS REFLECTION
Design Thinking can be used every day to help sustainability look at the Transport London team, They use ideas and designs that can help with making a big city like London more sustainable, whether it be making people use fewer cars, or using reusable cups at fast food places, and so many more. Another example would be having no AC in the UK, this allows for the UK to be sustainable by not using fossil fuels to get air in the house instead they use the fresh air outside to keep the house cool. I think having an underground system in major cities in the US would be things so much more sustainable in the US, it would allow for less use of cars and give people another way o getting from points A and B quicker. We have it in NYC, why can't we have it in other cities? I also think the US shouldn't use preservatives in their food, it causes so many issues in everyday life if you think about it. I don't know specifics, I just know it isn't good for people or the environment.
EVERYDAY SUSTAINABILITY FINAL REFLECTION
The Transport London meeting presentation was expansive on what we learned in Harlaxton as it gave us a deeper look into how people come up with ideas that can help keep a big city like London sustainable. It also gave us a new perspective on how we as people can keep things sustainable for a city by doing the activity we did to compare how our ideas are different.
The Farm in Munich was also helpful in what we learned at Harlaxton as it gave us a different perspective on how you can build and keep a farm sustainable without using drugs and steroids to raise animals. It made us realize just how cruel other farms are to their animals and just how little they care about what happens.
Words:
Hot, Austin, family, sweet tea, Mexican food, my car, comfortable bed, stress-free, family drama, good, friends, work. That's all I can think of
Things I'll miss:
I think I'm going to miss the culture of the UK and Germany, it was fascinating to me just how adamant people are about staying with their beliefs and theur culture. I can admire my own culture and how I was raised to keep in touch with my beliefs and culture.
Food with no preservatives. I can try to eat healthier and maintain what I eat to keep my body healthy.
The Underground, I loved how efficent the underground system was. It was so easy to get to and from places without needing a car. Obviously there's not a way to connect to a train here in the US but I can try and start taking public transit more so I don't have to keep driving to help the environment more.
