Hi! This is Brinly Green and I just wanted to give you more of the background behind this event. If you are reading this, I am so glad because it means that you may be considering participating in this event. But why am I doing this and how did I choose this event?
First, I am a member of the Buffalo Creek 4-H Club in Meyersdale. Every two years we do an achievement ladder. The ladder is a way to try to get involved in the community and try to make an impact in some way. I am on my sixth ladder which is the final one. So, one of the ways to achieve your ladder is doing a community service learning project. That is where the project began.
Why did I choose this project? When I was younger I read a book called A Long Walk for Water by Linda Sue Park. Ever since reading that book, I could always remember some of the struggles that the characters had to go through. They travelled so far just to get water for their families. But they had no idea that it was polluted with bacteria that would make everybody sick. This story made me feel like helping these underdeveloped nations as much as I can. A Long Walk for Water also made an impact on me because it is a true story. If there is something that I can do to impact them, I want to take the chance and try it out. So that is why I am doing this project, and the only way that it can be a success is with your help.
I want you to know that I am so grateful for each and every one of you who is considering this event or are already signed up.
