The library organises questions extrapolated from a variety of toolkits. ‘Global questionnaires’ aimed at collecting and comparing global land data enabled us to identify the frequently asked and often standardised questions that provide an overview of land rights and governance across contexts. By contrast, the ‘project-based questionnaires’ that inform and evaluate land tenure programmes offered comprehensive and detailed questions that afford more insight into land rights and governance in one place. To complement these approaches, the library also draws from ‘topic-specific questionnaires’ selected for their focus on (i) justice, gender and inequality; (ii) informal settlements and housing; (iii) African institutions and governance. Finally, the library scrutinises further global surveys, such as those looking at health, values or business culture in multiple countries, searching for questions that could be relevant to the measurement of rights and governance.
