ABOUT US

About the Department

The Department of Nanobiomaterials functions within the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, School Engineering, SIMATS, and has a strong research portfolio in fundamental research and the development of medical devices to improve human health. Department of Nanobiomaterials provides an enriched learning environment that has helped countless students get ahead. We’re extremely proud of our students and faculties, who are always eager to learn, create and grow together. Our department's main focus has always been developing novel advanced biomaterials & nanomaterials and analyzing their processing and manufacturing routes. The research interests of the faculty members cover a broad spectrum: Biomaterials, Biochemistry, Bioceramics, Phytochemistry, Nano-Bio composites, Thin films, Catalysis, and 3-D Printing. Key and important aspects of the work within the group are its interdisciplinary nature and close collaborations and interaction with other academic, clinical, and industrial collaborators both nationally and internationally. Currently, the Department offers various Bio-medical and Bio-material courses for undergraduate students. Besides, our faculties and students have published several original research and review articles in peer-reviewed national and international journals. Department of Nanobiomaterials has signed MOUs and has organized various “guest lectures” and technical events to facilitate efficient R&D exposure for the student community.

About the Event

METCERAMER 2023 - The symposium's title indicates the combination of all the biomaterials (Metals, Ceramics & Polymers). The focus of our first national symposium (METCERAMER 2023) is to enlighten the participants on the most recent medical advancements and the relevance of biomedical engineering with the significance of Biomaterials. During the symposium, a wide variety of topics will be discussed, including the current research on nanobiomaterials, nanobiotechnology, medical imaging, radiological devices, medical instruments, biological signals and sensors, artificial intelligence and robotics for healthcare. Participants can take part in a short panel discussion, oral presentation, poster session, and other non-technical events. In addition, an eminent industrial expert gives a plenary talk on the possibilities and problems that come with working in this field and the role that industry plays in this particular field of research. Overall, METCERAMER 2023 aims to connect industry and academia by discussing advances and needs of current research trends in biomaterials and medical diagnosis.
