Cause and effect

An important principle to consider is that of ‘cause and effect’. It follows that if there is any evidence of a design then it itself would indicate the existence of a designer, thus nullifying any other theories.

For example, when we come across the footprints of a human being on a sandy beach, it is apparent that they were of some other human being. No one would imagine it to be due to waves from the sea settled in the sands and by chance produced a depression looking exactly like a human footprint. Similarly, we could recognise all around us to be the footprints of an intelligent designer.

This example could be applied to anything or everything that exists. Every purpose-built product in this world that exists, demonstrates meticulous forethought and planning. For instance, a car made up from steel, plastic, rubber, etc have all been assembled together after a considerable effort of planning and production process. If cars could come up by chance events, then car manufacturers would have never existed.

The design of the designer is a harmonious assembly of various components and parts into an orderly form towards a common goal. In the example here, to transport people and cargo safely.

The design of beings

Consider the example of a living creature like birds. The goal at hand is, to fly. For this purpose, hollow bones, strong muscles that move these bones are utilized together with feathers capable of suspending the bird in the air along with wings that are aerodynamically shaped, all allow flight efficiency. More so the lungs and metabolism are in tune with the need of high energy levels. The presence of multiple, unique, and specialized systems that all function simultaneously illustrates the product of an intelligent design. If one examines any other creature besides a bird, we find that they are all examples of a meticulous design. If one takes it further on this quest, one will concede that humans too are also meticulously designed purposefully.

The Designer

The study of our natural environment leads us to an important conclusion that all creatures in nature including humans, are of a design. This, in turn, shows the existence of a Designer, who designs all creations at will, sustains them and holds absolute power and wisdom. Everything that exists is dependent on Him whilst He is absolutely independent of them. Denying a Creator/ Designer is unnatural and desperately irrational.

Consider the meticulous design of a brain within a human being. It is a globe of interconnected neurons composed of numerous fibers separated by layers of connective tissues making an average of 1000 synaptic connections with each other. A brain could contain between one hundred trillion to one quadrillion synaptic connections. These nerve fibers carry electrical nerve impulses to and from the muscles and organs to relay information. This brain is involved in everything we do. How we think, feel, act or even interact with others, many a times simultaneously. It is mind boggling and scientists have still not completely got around to mapping the brain to its full potential to this day in the 21st century.

A living cell sized 100 µm is the basic unit of an organ, which amounts to approximately 30 trillion in a human body. Each cell in itself is compared to a city, with power stations producing energy, factories manufacturing enzymes and hormones, complex transportation systems, pipelines carrying raw material, advanced laboratories breaking down substances and a vast data bank in the form of DNA – each extremely complex system is interconnected and have been designed to function with precision with each other!

The greatest evidence of a Creator is His creation

The very existence of the universe, with its superb organisation and order is unfathomable except as having been brought into existence by a Creator – a Being with an Infinite All comprehending Wisdom and Intelligence – rather than a blind force or chance events.

“On the earth are signs for those certain (in faith), as in your own selves. Then will you not see?”
