Is Message Forwarder silently not picking up incoming messages or calls after you've created and tested your Configurations in the app? See if the tips below help solve the problem.
Does your device employ overly aggressive battery restrictions?
Android already comes by default with some battery saving functionality that Message Forwarder can already handle out of the box. However, some device manufacturers add even more restrictions that Message Forwarder is not equipped to handle because they're not standard Android behavior. These additional restrictions generally prevent apps from being able to do work in the background while they're not being actively used. Because Message Forwarder must be able to process your messages and calls in the background while you're not actively using it, this can present a problem. Xiaomi, Huawei, and ZTE are especially notorious for doing this.
Make sure you exclude Message Forwarder from any additional restrictions by navigating to your device's battery settings, usually by going to "Settings" > "Battery".
Are Restricted Settings enabled?
If your device is running Android 15 or higher, apps downloaded outside of the Google Play Store may be restricted by default from accessing the device's SMS / MMS system. Message Forwarder needs access to SMS / MMS in order to forward those messages.
You need to Enable Restricted Settings in Message Forwarder's Application Info Screen and then grant it the SMS permissions.
Step 1: Open App Info
Long press the icon of Message Forwarder and select "App info".
Step 2: Tap Menu Button
Tap the menu button with the three vertical dots in the corner to expand it.
Step 3: Allow Restricted Settings
Tap the "Allow restricted settings" option that appears.
Step 4: Go to Permissions
Tap on "Permissions" to navigate to the app permissions to be granted.
Step 5: Go to SMS Permissions
Tap on "SMS" to manage the SMS permissions.
Step 6: Allow SMS Permissions
Select "Allow" to grant SMS permissions to Message Forwarder.
Are you using RCS?
RCS (Rich Communication Services) is a new messaging standard that works alongside SMS and MMS. Unfortunately, Android does not yet offer a way for apps to access RCS messages like it does SMS and MMS. Therefore, Message Forwarder does not yet offer support for RCS.
You need to disable RCS in your messaging app for Message Forwarder to be able to pick up your messages. The steps below assume you're using Google Messages on your device. If you're using a different messaging app, then the steps to turn off RCS on that app will vary.
Step 1: Open  Google Messages
Tap the Google Messages icon to launch the app.
Step 2: Navigate to Account Info
Tap on your profile picture in the corner to navigate to the "Account Info" page.
Step 3: Navigate to the App's Settings
Tap on "Application Settings" to display all available settings in the Google Messages app.
Step 4: Navigate to RCS Chats
Tap on "RCS Chats" to display all available settings regarding RCS Chats.
Step 5: Disable RCS Chats
Toggle off the "RCS Chats" feature in the list of settings.
