You learn to infuse your spells with a bit of your own vitality. When you cast a spell of first level of higher, you can expend and roll one of your hit dice to cause the spell to deal extra necrotic damage equal to twice your hit die roll to one target of your spell. The damage equals the number you roll on the hit die. You also regain hit points equal to the hit die roll.

You channel dark power to cause your teeth or fingernails to sharpen, ready to deliver a life-draining attack. Make a melee spell attack against one creature within 5 feet of you. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 necrotic damage. If your attack is a critical hit, you regain hit points equal to the amount of necrotic damage dealt. After you make the attack, your teeth or fingernails return to normal.
The spell's damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th level (2d8), 11th level (3d8), and 17th level (4d8).
