May 24th- 5th Grade Moving On Ceremony- Parents please remember to complete the pre-check out form now. See below.

May 25th- 5th Grade Field Day! Can't wait to celebrate with our MES families. Wear sneakers, appropriate clothing, and water bottles!

May 26th- Last Day of School & Mr. Hatcher's Birthday! BRING YOUR YEARBOOKS BACK TO SCHOOL. We will have a special time to sign books across the grade level.

Moving On Ceremony Check In/Check Out system

Check In -

When guests arrive to the Moving On Ceremony, they will receive a program with a "Check In" QR code. Everyone must check in using this code for the safety of the school.

Check Out- VERY IMPORTANT

If you are planning to check out your child (or have someone else check out your child) immediately following the ceremony/reception. please follow these steps:

1) PLEASE COMPLETE THE PRE-CHECK OUT FORM BEFORE MAY 24th.

2) Scan the QR Code and confirm who will be checking out your child.

3) Be prepared to bring your ID to match the name listed for check-out.

4) When you are ready to check out, you will go to the designated check-out areas and show your ID card to the office staff. There will be several check-out lines organized by last name to expedite the process.

5) Be patient and please abide by this process for safety purposes.

Reading/Language Arts

What can we say?! What an amazing year with our scholars. The End of Year projects were amazing and showed great effort. We know they will soar in middle school in English Language Arts.

It's been a pleasure teaching your children. Thank you for trusting us with them.

Please remind them to return their literature circle books on Monday.

SCIENCE and MAth NEWS from TAYLOR. May 18th

Next week will look a bit different.

MOnday - we will practice for graduation and then Taylor- Hatcher will show the movie Shilo!!!!!!!! We have finished the book and we will compare book to movie when we are finished!! I am planning on making pancakes as we watch the movie!! (CAN"T forget those CHEMICAL CHANGES!!)

Tuesday- - lockers will be clean- we will have a very fun schedule for all the students . They will rotate between all the classes with activities in each class. Taylor's room will play BINGO and needs a few more prizes for the winners!!

Wednesday- GRADUATION

Thursday- fifth grade field day - wear tennis shoes and bring a water bottle

Friday- last day of elementary school

Science

Science Milestones are on Monday. As I have said to all my students, we are showing what we learned this year. While it is important to do your best, I think it is also important for students to understand that a number on a piece of paper will never define who they are as a person. The Milestones are a way of checking how the learning year went, including the curriculum chosen by leaders, the teachers' instruction, and various other factors. I know I did my job this year (we covered so much!!!!) and I suggest you ask your student how they feel about their job-the listening, participating, and completing assigned tasks. It's a healthy way to reflect on the balance of their lives which may or may not include spending more time focusing on academics. You know best because you are the expert on your child.

Little Book grades will be entered into Infinite Campus and sent home by Monday. I loved looking at the illustrations!

Mrs. Daniels' science class will continue to work on their Imaginary Landform Project this week. It's a fun activity where students get to use their knowledge of weathering, erosion, constructive, and destructive forces to design their own landform. It might even defy the laws of physics! Please don't fret over the due date or what needs to be done. Work will continue in class as time permits this week.

Please send in any copies of the science textbook (The Owl Book) back to school. I will collect those from students next week.
