About me

Having graduated from my PhD at the Australian Institute for Bionengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN), University of Queensland, Australia in 2012, I returned to the sunny island of Penang. Since then I have been leading a research group working on Bioprocess Development with a focus on solutions for upstream and downstream processing of recombinant proteins and also fundamental research work.

The lab has sucessfully secured international, national and university grants (JSPS-Core-to-Core B, E-Science, FRGS, RUI). The outcomes of which have been published in reputable journals such as Journal of Biotechnology, Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology, Process Biochemistry and Journal of Chromatography B. International and national patents have also been filed based on research outcomes from this laboratory.

Through strong collaborative links with researchers from Japan together with local government agencies and industry, students also have the opportunity to undergo research internships in international collaborative labs or industry, while pursuing their postgraduate study. The outcome of their training is a high success rate in securing international scholarships upon graduation (MEXT, IPA and IGP) and positions in cutting edge research laboratories.
