I hail from the humble village of Valdor, Penang. I completed my Bachelor degree in Biotechnology from Universiti Malaysia Pahang with First Class Honours. I then joined USM as a postgraduate student. During my research degree, I had the chance to pursue the answer to my question regarding the possibility of phase separation of CHAPS, which had not been proven previously. I managed to resolve this question and demonstrated that phase-separation of CHAPS is possible with salt-addition. I then proceeded to characterising the system and applying the system for phase separation of hydrophobic molecules. For this study, I also had extensive training in utilizing the insect-cell baculovirus expression system for recombinant protein expression. The results of my work was published in the Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology. During my stint as a postgraduate student, I also had the opportunity to work part-time as an Assistant Analyst. I participated in international conferences in the ASEAN region (Singapore, Thailand) and had two-months attachment at Kyoto Institute of Technology, Japan. After graduation, I worked as an Analyst at USAINS Laboratory and Testing Services. I was then awarded the HDSMS scholarship and am currently furthering my interest in Science at Kyoto, Japan.
