Vision / Hearing

New York State Education Law requires that students receive vision screening as part of the school health services provided by each public school district. The purpose of this requirement is to detect the presence of vision problems likely to impede a student’s learning. I will start conducting vision screening starting in October of each school year. If the results of the screening indicate that your child requires further follow-up, you will receive written notification from me. The screenings done on each grade level (per NYS education law ) are as follows:

Kindergarten- near and distance vision acuity, color perception, and hearing screen.

first grade-near and distance vision, and hearing screen.

second grade -none

third grade-near and distance vision, and hearing.

fourth grade- none

fifth grade-near and distance vision, and hearing

new students- near and distance vision , color perception , and hearing screen .
