about me(redith)

My name is Meredith Perkins and I am a writer based in Cincinnati, OH. As a junior in Miami University's honors program, I study diplomacy and English with minors in history and French. I am a UKSI Fulbright - Wales alumnus, Presidential Fellow, Geoffrion Fellow, and Prodesse Scholar.

My opinion writing has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Cincinnati Enquirer, New York Times, Lexington Herald Leader, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer, while my regular opinion column with the Miami Student has received the Ohio News Media Association Best Collegiate Column Writing Award as well as the Greer-Hepburn Prize in Journalism. Additionally, I am a senior editor of the Miami Political Review, Miami University's first student-run political magazine.

As a creative writer, my recent publications include "The Office" in Glass Mountain and "Nineteen" in Short Vine Literary Magazine, a piece that received the Bookwalter Award for undergraduate creative writing. I enjoy coming-of-age stories and writing anything that sounds like it would make an intriguing adventure.

When I'm not writing, I'm probably playing instruments (I learned banjo this summer!), trying new recipes for my food column, reading random nonfiction books, or hanging out with my tabby cats.

Professionally, I have interests in teaching, writing, nonprofit work, diplomacy, or some combination of all four.

On this website, I have compiled an archive of all my published writing and journalism in one convenient spot.
