WRITTEN VS. VISUAL DISCOURSE

Written discourse and visual discourse are two different modes of communication that can be used to convey information or express ideas. While written discourse primarily relies on written language and text, visual discourse uses visual elements such as images, graphs, charts, and diagrams to communicate meaning.


Distinguishing Characteristics of Written Discourse and Visual Discourse:


1. Medium: Written discourse is typically conveyed through written texts, such as articles, books, emails, or social media posts. Visual discourse, on the other hand, relies on visual elements and can be conveyed through various mediums such as photographs, paintings, presentations, infographics, or videos.

The connection between allusion and design lies in the ability to use visual elements and composition in a deliberate manner to allude to specific ideas, themes, or references. In visual discourse, a designer may incorporate allusions into the design by including symbols, imagery, or visual cues that refer to a particular concept or meaning. This can enrich the viewer's experience, add layers of interpretation, and enhance the overall message being conveyed.


It is important to note that while allusion is predominantly a literary device, it can be adapted and employed in visual discourse through intentional design choices. This integration of allusion and design can create powerful and thought-provoking visual communication that engages and resonates with the audience.

GAME GENERATIONS

Game generations refer to different eras or periods in the history of video games, categorized by technological advancements, hardware capabilities, and significant changes in game design and gameplay. Each generation is marked by the introduction of new gaming consoles or platforms that push the boundaries of graphics, processing power, and overall gaming experience. 

The exact timeframes and specific consoles may vary depending on different interpretations and regional markets. New generations and advancements in gaming technology continue to evolve, shaping the future of video games.


1. First Generation (1972-1977): This era saw the birth of video games with the release of early arcade machines and home consoles like the Magnavox Odyssey and Atari Pong. Games were simple and featured basic graphics and limited interactivity.


2. Second Generation (1976-1983): The second generation was characterized by the introduction of more powerful home consoles like the Atari 2600 and Intellivision. Games became more diverse, offering a wider range of genres and gameplay mechanics.
