Global IIT Alumni Support Group
About Us
A professional networking platform for IIT alumni belonging to the Constitutionally marginalised Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The Group has over 500 alumni across the world and is fast growing.
Inspired by the social justice philosophy, the aim is to support fellow alumni academic, professional and social progress as a means to pay back and uplift the community as a whole. The Group does advocacy work to improve diversity in higher education. It is non-political and works on trust, respect, integrity and community service spirit. The Group respects everyone in the world.
Mentoring Club is an initiative of the Global IIT Alumni Support Group. It started in the year 2023 post the unfortunate death of IIT Bombay's Darshan Solanki. The alumni felt the need to extend mentoring support to IIT students coming from the marginalised backgrounds. This need became acute with the recent passing away of IIT Delhi's Ayush Asna and Anil Kumar.
Mentoring Club aims to help marginalised students in their emotional, academic, career and professional development. Contextual mentoring is provided by alumni who faced similar social and academic issues and are now doing well in life.
Over 300 IIT students are enrolled in the mentoring initiative.
The Group has raised funds for the families of late Darshan Solanki and Anil Kumar.
