About Me
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (Ohio)| Doctoral Student, Counselor Education & Supervision
My name is Ed Rindler. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Ohio, based in Butler County. I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I am currently a doctoral student in Counselor Education and Supervision, also at Capella University.
Before returning to higher education in my mid-30s, I worked in retail. Becoming a father early in life, and navigating the responsibilities, challenges, and identity shifts that come with parenting, was a major influence in my decision to pursue a career in counseling. That lived experience continues to shape how I understand mental health, relationships, and personal growth.
In my professional work, I serve a broad population ranging from adolescents to older adults from diverse backgrounds. While my primary focus is mental health, I also work with individuals experiencing substance use disorders, difficulties with anger management, and parenting-related challenges.
A central theme across my clinical work, teaching, and doctoral research is emotional intelligence, the capacity to recognize, understand, and manage emotions in oneself and in relationships with others. I view emotional intelligence as foundational to effective counseling practice and to maintaining mental health across the lifespan.
My doctoral research examines whether and how emotional intelligence is being developed in online counselor education programs. This website was created as an educational space to share mental health concepts, coping strategies, and research-informed resources through a lens that emphasizes emotional awareness, regulation, and interpersonal functioning.
I believe meaningful mental health education is most effective when it is grounded in evidence, informed by lived experience, and accessible to a wide range of people.
