Picking up trash in our community on Earth Day!
Staying busy in the garden is an easy way for me to celebrate Earth Week everyday!
We maintain a small vegetable and herb garden, a couple small greenhouses, and we also make our own compost. Eating out of our organic garden means we cut down on carbon emissions released from driving to and from grocery stores, transportation and importing of food to the grocery stores, as well as reducing the amount of pesticides and fertilizers produced from big agricultural farming.
We also collect rainwater to water our garden to reduce the amount of water consumption. Composting our food scraps produces beautiful and healthy compost that we reuse in our garden regularly and also reduces the amount of trash we produce.
A major aspect of eating food you grow from home that I love is reducing the amount of packaging and plastics that are used. That means we don't have to use plastic produce bags, or have plastic containers for our veggies, or have plastic labels on our food! I am thrilled to reduce this kind of single use plastic trash whenever I can.
Happy Earth Week everybody!

Happy Earth Day!
I’m celebrating Earth Day by working in the garden with my sister and her rescue dog Riley. The first stock tank is succulents. Second stock tank is jalapeño, poblano, red, and yellow bell peppers, potatoes, and onions. Third stock tank is zucchini, squash, cucumbers, and tomatoes.
Normally for earth day we plant our veggies for our garden. My daughters all love to help out and it’s been a tradition since they were little. It’s also very convenient to have our fruits and veggies just right outside our backyard and the kids gets very excited when they see their plants grow and we use it for food. It helps teach them how to garden and hopefully when they get older and have their own homes they too will plant their own veggie garden 🌱
