Aloha! While I'm not currently in Hawaii, I love the islands and all the pictures on my website are from the Island of Kauai (on our last trip).
I am a clinical mental health therapist who works in Neenah, WI. I specialize in working with clients who have experienced trauma using a variety of therapeutic modalities. Brainspotting is my primary modality because it allows me to be creative and work in uncertainty, following the lead of the client. While I would love to say that as a therapist, I know exactly what is going on for you and provide you with the steps you need to heal. Unfortunately, that is not how the human brain works. Like our physical self, the mental self must heal from the inside-out, or the bottom-up. Most of the current therapeutic approaches work from the outside-in and the top-down.
I liken the counselor-client relationship to the purchasing of shoes...Hear me out. When you buy shoes, you don't just go into the store, grab a pair of shoes, pay for them, and march out. There are several steps involved in this seemingly easy transaction. First, you need to determine the purpose of the shoes. Next, you need to find a pair that will meet that purpose. Third, you must try the shoes on to see how they fit and feel. After all that, you decide, "This is the pair of shoes that will work for me." Only after the purchase do you walk in those shoes for a week or more to see if they really fit. The relationship between a counselor and their client is about the "fit" and "feel". While some counselors may work for some people, they don't work for all people. I would encourage you to take advantage of my "free phone consultation" to see if you and I might be a good "fit". I want the best for you whatever you decide. Your mental health is my goal. I'd love to hear from you. ~sharon
