"The task of leadership is not to put greatness into people, but to elicit it, for the greatness is there already"
-John Buchan
Visiting Memphis, it was only fitting that we would visit the Civil Rights Museum which also happens to be the memorial of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., one of the greatest leaders the Black community has seen.
While in Memphis we all took on a leadership role. For example, at the boys and girls club we lead activities that allowed them to think about their future goals and aspirations. After working with them we were able to leave them with a quote that would inspire them to be leaders and uplift each other.
"It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains."
At the Food Justice Ministry, we did a number of things, one being helping to serve lunch to community members. We also helped to lead members, who wanted to utilize the food pantry, in choosing the available food and toiletry items.
