Frank Lipnizki, Lund University, Sweden
1995: BEng (Hons) in Manufacturing and Management at the University of Bath, U.K., 1996: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Process Engineering) at the University of Bochum, Germany 1999: PhD (Hydrophobic Pervaporation: Process Integration and Optimisation) in Chemical Engineering at the University of Bath, U.K., 2000: Post-doc Druvan Scholarship in Food Engineering at Lund University, Sweden. 2001 - 2016: Alfa Laval - Business Centre Membranes (previously Danish Separation Systems), Denmark, Business Manager and Product Manager plus associated R&D manager and 2014 - 2016 adjunct Professor in Chemical Engineering at Lund University, Sweden.
Since, 1st of Jan 2017 Professor in Chemical Engineering with focus on Separation Process in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Lund University, Sweden. He leads the Membrane Group and manages MemLab, the university’s Industrial Membrane Process Research and Development Centre. Before joining Lund University, he spent 16 years at Alfa Laval – Business Centre Membranes in Denmark. The Membrane Group at Lund University is the largest in Sweden, focusing on the water-energy-food security nexus in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. His main research interests include the integration and optimization of membrane-based separation processes in the food, biotech, pulp and paper industries, as well as in water and wastewater treatment. He also specializes in membrane fouling and cleaning strategies. Currently, he serves as the President of the European Membrane Society.
Bart Van der Bruggen, KU Leuven, Belgium
Bart Van der Bruggen is professor at KU Leuven (Belgium), where he leads a group of 35 PhD students in the research division “Process Engineering for Sustainable Systems” within the department of Chemical Engineering. He is also affiliated with Technical University of Ostrava (Czech Republic), Korea University (Seoul, Korea), and the University of Aruba. His expertise is in separation technologies for sustainable processes, with an emphasis on membrane science and technology. He authored over 800 publications related to membrane technology in international scientific journals and 30 book chapters (current h-index: 112, Web of Science). He is Editor-in-Chief of Separation and Purification Technology.
