Mel Asylum is a science fiction author with a love for understanding the paths people take in life. Mentel health and science become one when she creates advancers. Her active imagination takes flight through the cosmos with every new thing she learns. Her adventure novelette Unrooting the System was inspired by the many spiritual and mantal paths people take to growth she has learned about.
Her young adult novel Theory of Rebellion is a story driven by self-reflection that is later applied to religion and politics. Mel loves to reflect on her love of science fiction with the voices in Hyperspace, a podcast where friends get together to talk about all thing’s science fiction.
In a star system where plants are the dominant species, capitalism and religion control them. Harmony, an antiques dealer, does not see herself fitting into this system. She is more interested in what we can learn from an object’s history than its popularity. When she is sold an unusual piece, it sparks her curiosity. This curiosity will lead her to the mystery of her people’s advancements. The sexual encounters she has on the way encourage the same exploration of her feelings. She puts herself in danger to explore the possibilities in a shadowy cult. Hoping to interact with the parts of her star system that she was raised to fear. Does she ignore the aspects of herself to satisfy a religion that does not care about her? Much like the artifact, she is not appreciated the way she is. Does she change for others, to feel accepted and loved?
The more Harmony learns about the piece, the stronger her soul becomes. She learns to appreciate her true self. Becoming more confident in her feelings and actions. Understanding how she loves, she speaks her truth with less fear. By embracing the knowledge she gains by exploring more of her world than what is presented to her.
This is her journey of uncovering her power and the terrifying origins of her star system’s way of life. Following leads through the three inhabited planets of her star system, she interacts with the different cultures and mentalities of the people. Contemplating how the cultures of her people can keep them from learning about how they can find happiness. When she discovers an artifact that stands out as much as she does. Harmony's feelings lead her on an adventure to discover an extinct alien race and herself. Discover the mystery of her confidence as she discovers the mystery of an unwanted artifact.

Mel just wants to sing for her fans
But when she invites those kids to her show.
Maybe the hate for her will begin to blow
Mel can wait for the struggle to end
