My decision to run came about because I want to see positive changes in our county. 

There has been a lot of growth lately. Growth in itself is not bad but the wrong kind of growth is. 

Douglas County taxes are at an all-time high. Crime in Douglas County is at an all-time high.  Small businesses are struggling while warehouses and housing developments (most that are bringing in temporary renters and not homeowners who are vested in this community) are thriving.

We are fast becoming a little Atlanta, but not the good part of Atlanta. Not the part that brings people to our county to visit and play, but the overcrowded part, with too many industrial areas that are bringing with them more crime and a higher homeless population.

Douglas County has been focused on bringing in new growth while ignoring the citizens who are already here and have been for years. Again, growth can be good but not at the expense of those who already live here. We need to concentrate on bringing in positive growth while being respectful of those who’ve committed or want to commit, to a lifetime of living in, paying taxes in, and building a life in, Douglas County. 

Spending on projects and expenses that don’t benefit Douglas County or its citizens, has been out of control. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are being used to fund projects that are not a direct benefit to you, money has been paid out in irresponsible ways, with little accountability. We need more accountability within our leadership and I believe we are finally on the right path.  

I do not believe that being a commissioner should be about party lines. I don’t believe it should be about personal agendas. I believe it should be about you. As a commissioner, it would be my job to speak your words and your concerns, to make sure your voice is heard!
