Windows 11 Installation Tricks

Install Windows 11 on "unsupported" hardware

Ever wanted to install Windows 11 on "unsupported" hardware? Well you can do it, very simply, and there's no need to modify your ISO!

Just boot the Windows 11 Setup and when you're welcomed by the main page, hold the SHIFT key and press F10. A Command Prompt will spawn out of nowhere, now type in regedit and press the enter button.

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Labconfig and create the following DWORDs (32-bit) and give them a value of 1:

(note: if you don't have Labconfig just create it!)

  • BypassCPUCheck

  • BypassRAMCheck

  • BypassTPMCheck

  • BypassSecureBootCheck

  • BypassStorageCheck

  • BypassDiskCheck

Now close the registry editor and the command prompt.

The Setup will now proceed without any problem! If the setup still won't proceed please contact me and I'll provide you with a different solution.

First boot without Internet Connection

You can set Windows 11 up without needing an Internet Connection, and also use a Local Account! In order to do this, finish installing Windows and boot into the first setup screen. Now press SHIFT + F10 to open a Command Prompt, type oobe\bypassnro and press Enter.

Windows will reboot and show the first setup screen again, except now you can set Windows up without being forced to use an Internet Connection!

Setup an user account without security questions

Security questions are a good addition so that if you forget your password you can easily recover it, but it can be very annoying for very expert users who just want to use a good old text password and be done with it. In order to do this, you need to create an account without password, during the first setup process, and once you're done you will have to hold the Windows Key + R together, type lusrmgr.msc and click OK. Go to Users, right click your account and click "Set password". This method won't ask you for any security question!

Upgrade Windows 11 on "unsupported" hardware

You might have installed Windows 11 on "unsupported" hardware, but now you can't upgrade to the latest builds through Windows Update. There's a workaround to that. Press the Windows Key + R, type in regedit and click OK. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup and create a new DWORD (32-bit) named AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU and give it a value of 1. Reboot. From now on, you will be able to upgrade through Windows Update even though your hardware is not supported! This trick can also be used to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on unsupported hardware. If the upgrade still won't proceed please contact me and I'll provide you with a different solution.
