6:00 - 9:30 pm
CAP x Tate Modern
CAP artists from the Royal College of Art (contemporary art practice MA) presented, performed, screened, and workshopped for Beyond Surface - Tactile Presence at Tate Modern Lates: a CAP Festival event responding to themes of touch and tactility in response to the work of Maria Bartuszová and a celebration of women in the arts as part of Women's History Month.
Visitors enjoyed the CAP Artists' Live Stage presentations and performances and the One to One Live interactive activations on Level 2 of the Blavatnik Building alongside a large collaborative fabric mural made by CAP artists - Women's March on Versailles recreated.
On Level 4 of the Blavatnik Building, short films by 38 artists on the programme were screened in the CAP Cinema. Across the concourse of Level 4 Blavatnik, there was also a presentation of Contemporary Art Practice artists at work, including sketches, mock-ups, a singing sculpture, an interactive hive sculpture that visualized the process of touch, a large screen-printed flag, and a fabric ladder that extended over the course of the evening. Alongside this work was the large wall piece They Got Us Here: a visual and textural display celebrating artworks from a range of artists and thinkers celebrating the intersections of identity among us, and throughout feminist history.
The touchy-feely Exquisite Egg generative workshop took place on the platform of the Level 4 Natalie Bell Building overlooking the Turbine Hall. Visitors looked out for 6 large egg-shaped sculptures made by CAP artists who invited them to explore their mystery fillings and respond with words and drawings.
Across all the spaces Mary's Signs and CAP artists were there to guide visitors. Entry was free, and all were welcome. We hope you had a great time.
