• Ferace - The ferace was a coat that was only worn by women when they were away from their homes. These coats were cut with very little tailoring.

Ceremonial Kaftan

Ceremonial kaftans were given out by the sultan to those that have done something for the empire or to traveling diplomats. These were made from the highly skilled craftsperson in every aspect of construction and were only crafted from the sultan’s palace. The sleeves of the kaftans are open at the shoulder and hang to the garment’s hem. It was normal for the sleeves to hang down with the wear just sticking their arms through the hole at the sleeve.
